A new riverside development of 13 mixed 2, 3 and 4 bed houses.
This river front site located in the heart of Lewes, close to Cliffe High Street site provided many opportunities as well as design challenges including flood defence requirements, working within a restrictive linear site, contaminated land and the need for the design to complement the surrounding conservation area as well as reinforcing the historic river frontage.
The design creates 3 blocks, each with their own identity but with forms that relate to the historic waterfront buildings.
A limited pallet of materials has then been employed which relates to the existing fabric of the town but also provide a contemporary feel to the detailing of the new houses.
