Sutton boarding house, was originally known as Saunderites and was a boys’ boarding house, but as part of Charterhouse School’s move to a co-educational offering, it was to become Sutton, a girls’ boarding house.
Miller Bourne was commissioned to undertake an extensive redesign of the existing layout to provide an additional staff flat, convert the general washrooms into several smaller, and private, shower rooms and an additional pupil buttery. Working together with interior designer Nicola Rees, the refurbished common rooms were also given a more contemporary look.
Sutton is one of 12 boarding houses that we have now completed or are currently working on at Charterhouse School.
