Following a competitive selection process, Miller Bourne was appointed to develop a masterplan for the Parkside School, a boys' independent preparatory school and co-ed nursery, set in grounds of 45 acres.
Located in Cobham, the school sits in stunning parkland grounds. The original manor house forms the main school building, with the Grade II listed St Mary’s Church located within the school grounds.
A full analysis of the existing school grounds and buildings was undertaken, followed by a comprehensive stakeholder engagement stage to fully understand the problems associated with the existing facilities and gauge the short-, mid- and long-term visions for the school.
This information was collated and used to inform the development of the preliminary strategies, options and timescales.
There followed a period of ongoing dialogue with the school’s senior management team to test and refine ideas and proposals to create a Parkside School’s phased Masterplan Proposal.
A good school masterplan offers a vision for adding new buildings and facilities, enhancing the character and strengths of the existing school site, revitalising current teaching spaces and creating an enhanced school campus for the future.
Every masterplan is conceived as a working document which can evolve over time, whilst providing a framework within which all development can be prioritised and a vision to work towards.
