Seaford Head Golf Course is regularly voted one of the most dramatic courses in the UK, although the old club was in desperate need of replacement.
The new clubhouse provides modern and spacious changing accommodation, a new Pro shop and a large and flexible bar and function facility which opens out onto a protected terrace and balcony for uninterrupted views over the course and sea.
The site is in a prominent position within the South Downs Nation Park and so it was important to control the visual impact from medium and long distance views. The design for the club house uses the natural slope of the site to conceal much of the ancillurary accommodation on the lower ground floor within the ground.
The external materials have been selected to blend with the natural tones of the site with timber cladding, gabion walls and an intensive green roof that once matured will blend in with the surrounding grassland.
